Review: Here Come The Mummies at The Funky Biscuit 12/8/16

Funky tunes, confetti cannons, drumlines, innuendos, and of course 8 mummified musicians gyrating as they please an excited crowd dancing in front of them.

This is just another normal performance for Here Come The Mummies. Having seen these amazing preserved carcasses before, I knew to expect an incredible and fun show filled with antics and catchy tunes, and they did not disappoint. Performing at the far more intimate stage at the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton yielded for a lot more fan interaction than I have previously been treated to at my previous times experiencing this high energy experience and in my opinion only improved what they already do so well.

The lineup is always changing but with each new member brings a unique spin on the performance and quickly helps you get past your favorite mummy no longer appearing with the group. Opening with “My Party” and never slowing down, they powered through an hour and a half of a high energy set composed of their fan favorites such as “Pants," “Fenk Shui,” and “Freak Flag" just to name a few. If you have not had the pleasure of witnessing this spectacle of fun and talent, then you are truly missing out. On a personal note, this publication owes a great thanks to HCTM, as it was a performance down in South Florida which started the concert photography career of Co-Founder Megan Garzone, and she hasn’t slowed down since. (Megan's note: This is very true and I forever hold the Mummies super close to my heart for giving me a chance to come out and kick start my passion for shooting shows - I owe them a lifetime of gratitude!)
