Tedeschi Trucks Band at The Warner Theatre

Tedeschi Trucks Band’s February 9th show was the first in a four-show run, over back-to-back weekends, at Washington D.C.’s majestic Warner Theatre. The 12-piece band, led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks treated fans to two boisterous sets. The first set started off with "Don't Let Me Slide," from the band's 2011 debut release, Revelator, followed by a blistering version of "Laugh About It." The band segued into Leonard Cohen's "Bird On a Wire," complemented by stellar backing vocals by Mark Rivers, Mike Mattison and Alecia Chakour. Versions of Elmore James' "The Sky is Crying" and Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" were other highlights from the first set.

The second set started with a fiery version of the Allman Brothers Band "Statesboro Blues," where Trucks slide expertise was on overdrive. "Don't Know What it Means" followed and featured a stellar sax solo by Kebbi Williams. "Midnight in Harlem," "Shame," and Billy Taylor's "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free."

The two song encore featured two covers, Tom Petty’s, "You Don't Know How it Feels" with Tedeschi playing harmonica, and Joe Cocker's "Space Captain."

Formed in 2010, the 12-piece, Tedeschi Trucks Band is a preeminent blues-rock group known for their legendary live performances and acclaimed studio releases. Their 2011 Grammy Award-winning debut Revelator, was followed by 2012’s live album, Everybody’s Talkin’, 2013’s critically-acclaimed Made Up Mind and 2015‘s Let Me Get By.

Lead by husband and wife duo Derek Trucks, former Allman Brothers Band slide guitar slinger, and power house vocalist and guitar slinger in her own right, Susan Tedeschi, the collective group consists of two drummers, three vocalists, a three-piece horn section, bass, and a multi-instrumentalist keyboard player.
