Recently there has been a drought of country music artists visiting the Hawaiian Islands. Fans of the genre were excited to learn that BAMP Project had scheduled Lee Brice to perform at The Republik, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Brice came to Hawaii with quite the music resume! He has written songs for some of today’s top performers including Garth Brooks, Faith Hill, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, and Kenny Chesney. Brice has also been nominated for Grammys and CMA awards. Currently Brice is touring to promote his self-titled fourth release Lee Brice which was released in November of 2017.
At a bit after 9 PM, dressed in black and sporting a Waylon Jennings trucker cap, Brice strode on stage. The sold out crowd was treated to “Picture Of Me” from his debut album Love Like Crazy followed by “Hard To Love” and “That Don’t Sound Like You.” These first three songs spotlighted Brice’s impressive approach to his songwriting which he demonstrated throughout the night. Themes of family, love, and the ideal of hard work were all interwoven with Brice’s strong vocals.
Brice and his impressive four piece band put on an unforgettable performance. The played all of his hit songs; “Beer,” “Drinking Class,” “Woman Like You,” “Love Like Crazy,” and Parking Lot Party.” The set list consisted of the perfect combination between sentimental songs such as “Boy” and testosterone filled numbers about beer drinking and driving trucks.
Highlights included Brice getting “leied” on stage when someone threw a lei on stage. Brice also gave a speech honoring our country’s first responders and the men and women serving in the armed forces. Overall Lee Brice and his band put on a great country concert with a little bit of a rock feel to it. The country music audience of the islands left happy, for now. Hopefully more music of the genre will reach Hawaii. If you are interested seeing Brice’s live performance, he will be touring to promote his latest album throughout 2019.
