Today, the legendary singer-songwriter, musician, record producer and actress Macy Gray revealed her first track and official video for “Sugar Daddy,” taken from her forthcoming 10th studio album titled RUBY, out worldwide digitally and on Limited Edition RUBY red Vinyl on September 7th via Artistry Music, a Mack Avenue label. Directed by Christian Lamb and shot at Pour Vous in Los Angeles, the video stars Macy Gray alongside Evan Ross, and is inspired by his legendary mother Diana Ross’ portrayal of Billie Holiday in the 1972 biographical classic “Lady Sings The Blues.”
In true Macy Gray fashion – transcending genres and styles – RUBY offers fans a slice of soul, blues, jazz, R&B and pop but always with a Macy Gray twist.The tongue-in-cheek and playful “Sugar Daddy” starts things up in the pop domain, and is sure to wet pallets for what’s to come from Macy in 2018.
