Charly Bliss Rocked The Bottom Lounge

Charly Bliss's new album "Forever" is an emotional powerhouse, designed to pull listeners into a whirlwind of feeling. With its vibrant, power-pop energy, the band aims to engage their audience both in the intensity of their music and the catharsis of singing along—whether at their live shows or alone in private moments. Eva Hendricks, the band’s frontwoman, passionately emphasizes that their goal is to emotionally overwhelm listeners, but in a thrilling and joyful way.

The album marks a shift in the band’s creative process. After a demanding tour cycle for their 2019 album Young Enough, the band was burnt out. Bassist Dan Shure recalls the uncertainty surrounding their next move, and drummer Sam Hendricks, now a father of two, found himself distanced from his band life. The pandemic gave the group time to breathe and reconnect creatively, leading to an unexpected resurgence of fun in their work. Guitarist Spencer Fox highlights the band's strong bond as lifelong friends and siblings, which naturally fosters a joyful and collaborative environment.

For Forever, Charly Bliss broke away from their usual in-person songwriting method. Eva Hendricks was in Australia, so remote collaboration became the new norm, but ironically it brought them closer. The process allowed for more creative freedom, with no strict timelines, giving the band the space to experiment. Songs took shape across continents, with demo recordings happening in everything from rental cars to late-night brainstorming sessions. The end result is an album full of intense emotional range—capturing both the exhilaration and sleeplessness of new love, as well as the heartache and reflection that comes with personal growth.
