Three years after Into the Wild Life, Halestorm is set to release their fourth album, Vicious, on July 27th. We caught up with Joe Hottinger (guitar) and Josh Smith (bass) at Welcome to Rockville and chatted about the upcoming release.
Vicious was recorded earlier this year at Nashville’s Rock Falcon recording studio with producer Nick Raskulinecz. Raskulinecz is an acclaimed producer who has previously worked with bands like Rush, Korn, and Deftones. Halestorm knows Raskulinecz, of course, though from their third covers EP, ReAniMate 3.0: The CoVeRs eP which Raskulinecz also produced. “He's such a badass rock and roll producer, he's one of the best out there without a doubt,” Hottinger exlclaimed. “He doesn't let us get away with not rocking,” he explained. Raskulinecz was a driving force for the band during the recording process, pushing the members to be the best and perform the best they could. “[he was] guiding us and molding us which was really neat.”
“Wait until you hear the lyrics” Smith announced. “Lzzy is not messing around, she's talking about real issues.” While we've heard “Uncomfotable” and most recently “Black Vultures,” we cannot wait to check out the remaining ten tracks set to release in just over a week.
